Prayer For The Receiving Of A New Bishop
Lord, God,
You are our eternal shepherd and guide.
In your mercy, grant to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles a shepherd who will walk in your ways and whose watchful care will bring us your blessing.
In your love for us, give us the joy of receiving a shepherd who will be an example of goodness to your people and who will fill our hearts and minds with the truth of the gospel.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Archdiocesan Labor Day Mass
Coadjutor Archbishop José H. Gomez will celebrate the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ annual Labor Day Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels (555 W. Temple Street, Los Angeles) on Monday, Sept. 6, at 10 AM. The Mass marks the Archdiocese’s annual observance of the national holiday honoring all workers.
The Mass will begin with a procession of workers wearing uniforms and carrying tools of their trade. During the Mass, Archbishop Gomez will bless the workers in attendance. Mary Kay Henry, President, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) will deliver closing remarks.

All are invited to celebrate the vibrant and diverse Ethnic Communities of Los Angeles at the annual Celebration of Cultures Mass on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The next Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Most Reverend José H. Gomez, will celebrate the Mass at 10 AM, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, 555 W. Temple Street, in downtown Los Angeles.
Archdiocesan Public Policy Luncheon
Each year the Archdiocese of Los Angeles hosts a forum on current policy issues. The Public Policy Luncheon with Cardinal Roger Mahony is an opportunity to engage elected officials, businesses, community leaders, and key religious representatives throughout the region to discuss issues of concern with our respective constituencies.
This year's theme is "Out of the Shadows: The Human Face of a Broken Immigration System and How We Can Be Agents of Change."
